If it is partially heated, provide soffit vents and side vent. 5- Insulate the attic but no insulation in the overhang area. 6- When installing a new roof have a strip of rubberized material six feet wide laid along the eave edge of the roof, under the shingles. STEPS TO WINTERIZE YOUR HOME 1- Keep your home temperature at a minimum of 60 degrees while you are away. 2- Turn off the outside water source when you will be gone for a few days or the entire winter. 3- Make sure your heating system has had proper maintenance. 4- Look into purchasing a temperature warning device.
